Curatorial
Curatorially, Sima’s approach is founded upon a deep understanding of both past and present art movements, established across twenty-five years of experience. Her distinct and studied eye for aesthetics has generated several critically acclaimed group shows, often bringing together seemingly disparate artists, mediums, and ideas. Throughout, Sima puts into practice her belief in the balance of high and low: art is to be defined, not by its price point or market history, but by its conceptual underpinnings and creative expression. Her most recent effort is taking shape at The Lobby in Portland, OR, where she curates two exhibitions per year each celebrating a diverse and global selection of works, making them available for the immediate community to experience and enjoy. Big or small, simple or complex, Sima forges new relationships between artworks, the current moment, and our collective past.
Advisory
The advisory side of her business extends this ethos into the home. Starting a collection of art, or growing an existing one, is a personal and emotional undertaking. Given today’s increasingly complex art market–riddled with fluctuating prices, high demand, and ever-shifting priorities–sophisticated collectors need a trusted, informed, and well connected guide. Sima takes a long-term approach to advising, partnering with select clients over the course of many years to build and expand bespoke art collections that are tailored to the specific interests of each collector. Through her decades of work in galleries, Sima has established a network of relationships that provide her with unique access to key works. She couples this with a suite of necessary services–from education to market research, installation planning, and collections management–to provide a world-class, start-to-finish experience. Perhaps most importantly, Sima’s advisory practice foregrounds the felt lifestyle of living with and among meaningful works of art that reflect one’s taste.
